2017 Queensland Rugby League Leadership Conference 10th-12th February
The biennial QRL Leadership Conference offers participants the opportunity to learn about the latest developments in not only rugby league, but in sport as a whole. It provides club and local league administrators, coaches and volunteers with cutting-edge lectures, workshops, sport education material and important resources. The 2017 QRL Conference will once again bring together an outstanding group of speakers, presenters and tradeshow exhibitors. This is an event that will interest everyone associated with grassroots sport. The 2017 Conference will also build on the enormously successful 2015 Women’s Leadership Seminar presented by the Queensland Rugby League.
That inaugural Women’s Leadership Seminar was a resounding success, featuring esteemed speakers including Rebecca Frizelle (Chair – Gold Coast Titans), Raelene Castle (CEO – Canterbury Bulldogs), Kylie Blucher (Managing Director – Channel 9 Queensland) and Anita Palm (Head of Sport GC Commonwealth Games) to name a few. In 2017, the QRL is determined to build on the success of the 2015 conference and the event will again aim to promote our ambition to elevate the participation of women in positions of leadership within all sports. With a focus on female administrators and volunteers from sporting clubs and associations, this seminar will work to build confidence, resilience and provide practical tools to heighten the capacity to influence change in a male dominated area.
The 2017 QRL Leadership Conference will also support RizeUp Australia, which is a community-driven organisation dedicated to supporting the many women and families affected by domestic and family violence. RizeUp Australia provide practical assistance to the families as they move from refuges into independent housing. The service provided by RizeUp makes an incredible contribution to the women who decide not to return to their violent and unhealthy relationships. The Queensland Rugby League are proud to have the organisation’s founder and director Nicolle Edwards plus a celebrity guest.
